A Storyteller.

+ A Black Girl Thriving.

I am a storyteller and digital creator passionate about identity and representation in the media.

Growing up in some of the most diverse locations in the world - Guyana, Toronto, and “Dirty Jersey” - I gained a deep love and appreciation for culture and people of all walks of life. At the same time, I often found myself in spaces where I wondered whether I truly belonged.

Storytelling helped me find my voice as I learned how to navigate new cultures and connect with those around me. However, as I grew older, I became more conscious of the ways that voices like mine (a black woman with immigrant roots) were often excluded. In college, I created a contest for college-age women to produce films that represented themselves and shifted the narrative about women in the media. This experience lit a fire in me but I knew that while providing a platform for underrepresented voices was a start, it was not enough. I needed to get into the proverbial “ring” and learn how to write my own stories.

I received my MFA from Boston University in 2016 and since then, my scripts have received recognition from Final Draft’s Big Break, ScreenCraft’s Pilot Launch, and BET and ColorCreatives Script to Film contests. In 2018 I pivoted to audio, pioneering my role at Boston-based tech/audio company PRX, helping independent international producers and NPR station teams build podcasting and entrepreneurial skills.

Currently, I am on the leadership team of Emmanuel Gospel Center’s Filmmaker Collaborative, a diverse community of over 30 Christian filmmakers in the Boston area, helping to produce a series of short films and coaching new screenwriters as well as freelancing in a number of capacities including as Associate Producer for indie podcast Other Men Need Help and conducting podcast research for award-winning media company Sugar23.

Writing and developing stories and creating and curating platforms for creatives to expand beyond society’s “margins” is my life’s work. I hope to continue creating and equipping people to tell stories that matter.

Your story is worth telling.

I’d love to help you get started
