Hope in the face of darkness is also resistance.

This hope and this joy I speak of is not a simple “kumbaya” and “just find the silver lining” surface-level hope. It’s not the kind that turns a blind eye and ignores the problem in favor of “keeping the peace”. This hope and this joy is certainly not the kind that is shallow, naive or passive.

This hope and this joy I speak of is bloody. It is deeply rooted in the One who saw the problem and confronted it with action. It’s the kind of hope and joy that descended to literal hell to snatch back what was stolen so that it could never be taken again. This hope and joy is not dependent on current events or current circumstances. This hope and this joy is a beacon of light in the midst of great darkness and suffering. This hope and this joy keeps me from being crushed and defeated day to day because my hope and my joy is deeply rooted in a promise that sustains

So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.
